Roger Goodell simply addressed Harrison Butker‘s controversial graduation speech … and he did not take a stance on it come what may, opting as an alternative to easily reward the NFL’s “diversity of opinions.”
The Chiefs kicker’s polarizing Benedictine School speak got here up on the finish of Goodell’s chat with media members on Wednesday on the Spring League Assembly in Nashville … when a reporter questioned if the NFL’s commissioner had additional ideas on the matter.

Many, in fact, had hoped Goodell would admonish Butker — after critics known as the KC star’s phrases anti-gay and misogynistic.
However, Goodell saved issues brief and candy together with his reply … replying solely, “We have over 3,000 players. We have executives around the league. They have a diversity of opinions and thoughts just like America does. I think that’s something that we treasure and that’s part of, I think, ultimately, what makes us as a society better.”
He then said the league is not “going to go much beyond” an announcement that NFL Chief Diversity Officer Jonathan Beane issued final week … which mentioned, “[Butker’s] views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.”

For his half, Butker — who did take part in Chiefs organized staff actions Wednesday morning — has but to talk publicly additional in wake of all of the backlash he received from the speech.
