A Utah skier is fortunate to be alive … after the person received swept away by a fast-moving avalanche … and the death-defying ordeal was all captured on video!
In response to the Utah Avalance Heart, the scary incident occurred on Sunday when three skiers hit the slopes — regardless of warnings of harmful avalanche situations — close to Davis Gulch off Gobblers Knob.
Sadly, one in all ’em unintentionally set off a tough slab avalanche … and whereas two of the skiers moved to security, Steve Gourley was caught in the midst of it.
Gourley’s helmet digital camera was rolling when all of it occurred … and also you see the skier as he is swept away by the 2-4 foot-deep avalanche at speeds of 27 MPH!
UAC stated the avalanche stretched out 500 toes vast and a couple of,000 toes lengthy and it carried {a partially} buried Gourley 650 toes down the slope.
Fortunately, Gourley was capable of dig himself out … and was in ok situation to share the footage on social media, which ski lovers cherished.
“It may be some of the most breathtaking avalanche footage I’ve ever seen,” a UAC forecaster advised KPCW. “Super close call.”

Gourley stated he will follow low-angle terrains after triggering the avalanche.
