Univ. of Georgia linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson, who won back-to-back nationwide titles with the program, was arrested and reserved on several charges Wednesday.
According to Athens-Clarke County reserving records, Dumas-Johnson was taken into authorities custody Thursday night on charges of reckless driving and racing on highways/streets.
The declared race occurred on January 10, when a UGA policeman stated he experienced “two newer model Dodge Charges” beside each other at a traffic signal. When the light turned green, the cars and trucks “spun their tires and began racing” at a “high rate of speed.” The police officer stated he switched on his lights and gunned it to 75 MILES PER HOUR, however his cars and truck was simply too sluggish. The policeman lost both cars and trucks.
However, the authorities examined and ultimately got a judge to approve a warrant for Dumas-Johnson’s arrest on February 21.
Police state they tried to reach Dumas-Johnson by phone, however were not successful. They left him a voicemail notifying Jamon there was a warrant for his arrest and directed him to turn himself into the county prison.
Jamon, noted at 6’1″, 250 lbs., was reserved at 6:34 PM on Thursday and launched less than an hour later on by UGA Police.
