‘Sonic’ Voice Actor Jason Griffith Reacts to Keanu Reeves’ Casting

Voice actor Jason Griffith is not dropping sleep over Keanu Reeves stepping in to play the character he voiced within the “Sonic the Hedgehog” video video games and TV collection.

Jason tells TMZ … he thinks Keanu is the right option to play antihero Shadow the Hedgehog within the third ‘Sonic’ movie. As Jason places it, he was by no means requested to voice the function for the upcoming movie, so he does not really feel like Keanu “stole” his half.

He provides … “One of the many rewards of being in this business is being asked to voice a character that’s so beloved and means so much to so many people. And then, to share that character with someone like Keanu … I mean, it’s such an honor.”

The truth is, he says Keanu was his private casting alternative when rumors first started swirling on who was going to voice Shadow within the movie franchise.

He says, “I think even his natural speaking voice lends itself to Shadow so well. It’s a great choice.”

After all, this is not the primary time Jason has been ignored throughout casting for the ‘Sonic’ movies. Bear in mind, Jason — who voiced each Sonic and Shadow for the video games for nearly a decade — wasn’t tapped to play the star hedgehog … that function went to comic Ben Schwartz.

Nonetheless, Jason makes it clear he is not bitter about not showing within the flicks … saying he understands producers wish to preserve issues recent and it has launched so many new individuals to the ‘Sonic’ franchise.
