See Mod Sun’s Cryptic Note on “Real Friends” After Avril Lavigne Split

Mod Sun will keep keeping his good friends after his breakup with Avril Lavigne.

More than a week after news broke that the couple of more than 2 years had ended their engagement, Mod Sun—born Derek Ryan Smith—tweeted a cryptic message about leaning on his inner circle.

“I’m so grateful to have real friends who will sit on the phone with me for 2 hours,” the God Save the Teen artist composed on March 5. “If you got those people in your life, do not let them go.”

The following day, Avril was spotted packaging on the PDA with Tyga at Paris Fashion Week, where they were photographed holding hands and kissing at a celebration commemorating Hunter Schafer‘s project with Mugler. 

While Avril has yet to speak up about her relationship with Tyga, her associate validated to E! News on Feb. 21 that the punk rocker and Mod Sun went their separate ways. However, a representative for Mod Sun kept in mind at the time that the 2 were ”engaged as of three days ago when he left for tour so if anything has changed, that’s news to him.”
