Roberta Flack states she has ALS … and, unfortunately, she states that indicates she will not be performing her traditional hits any longer.
The statement boiled down Monday through the Grammy-winning vocalist’s representative, who discussed Roberta has problem even speaking nowadays due to her condition. No word on for how long she’s been experiencing ALS … typically referred to as Lou Gehrig’s illness.
ALS breaks down an individual’s nerves with time and substantially weakens their performance, particularly as it relates to muscle usage. It has shown deadly, without any recognized remedy.
It appears the factor this news is coming out now is since Roberta has a couple of significant tasks on the horizon that may typically need her to do interviews … consisting of the release of a kids’s book in January, and a synchronised PBS doc about her.
Plus, she’s turning up on a huge turning point in her profession — next year marks the 50th anniversary of her album, “Killing Me Softly” … including the eponymous title tune which is possibly her most popular hit.
Lauryn Hill‘s variation is a direct tribute to Flack’s performance.
Although 85-year-old Roberta will no longer be carrying out, her group states she’ll continue to pursue musical/creative efforts through her structure and other opportunities.
