Controversial L.A. councilman Kevin de León entered a knockdown, drag-out battle with an activist … while going to a Christmas tree lighting and toy free gift occasion, of all locations.
The video begins as de León is knocking Jason Reedy down onto a table, and the 2 of them continued battling into a corridor … as individuals around them attempted to break it up. Reedy is an organizer for a renter rights group, and obviously has beef with de León.
After the battle ended — without any severe injuries — de León declared everything began with Reedy headbutting him. He stated the “self-proclaimed activists” attacked him throughout the “community holiday event to the dismay of a multitude of families and children who were there to celebrate a Christmas tree lighting and to receive toys and food.”
The event’s not all that stunning — de León has actually been under fire considering that a dripped recording of him and other council members making racist remarks came out in October. Two of the council members resigned, however de León declined to step down and, rather, released an apology.
After Friday’s scuffle, Reedy’s lawyer informed the LA Times, de León is “a disgrace.”
