Katy Perry Announces She’s Leaving ‘American Idol’ After 7 Years

Katy Perry simply made a surprising announcement … she’s dunzo with “American Idol.”

The long-lasting singer appeared on Monday evening’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” dropping the bombshell after 7 years as an ‘Idol’ choose alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

Jimmy kicked issues off, asking Katy level clean if she was going to proceed with the present.

At first, Katy did not reply the query immediately, responding that she was trying ahead to performing in Brazil’s Rock in Rio music competition this fall.

Then she delivered the ‘Idol’ shocker …  “I think this will be my last show, my last season for ‘Idol.’ I love ‘Idol’ so much, it’s connected me with the heart of America. But I feel like I need to go out to feel that pulse of my own beat.”

Many within the viewers sounded bummed by the information, however Katy dealt with it like a seasoned professional along with her smiles and upbeat demeanor, turning the temper again to a constructive vibe.

But, Jimmy appeared a bit startled, urgent Katy on what her fellow judges — Lionel and Luke — considered her exit.

Katy replied, “Well, they’ll find out about it tonight,” indicating the 2 have been solely conscious she had some new initiatives within the works.

Her final season is scheduled to start out on February 18 because the singing competitors TV collection hits the 22-year mark.
