John Calipari says it is time for the Kentucky Wildcats to hit the reset button with out him … the longtime coach confirmed his departure from this system after 15 seasons.
Cal defined his determination to stroll away from his “dream job” in a social media video on Tuesday … sporting a Kentucky blue quarter-zip — minus the college’s emblem.
Cal — who’s anticipated to be introduced as Arkansas’ subsequent head coach this week — stated he and his spouse took a while to replicate after the Wildcats’ first-round exit from the NCAA event … and finally got here to the conclusion his tenure in Lexington ran its course.
“This is a dream job,” Cal stated. “It was my dream job. Anybody in our profession looks at the University of Kentucky in basketball and says that is the bluest of blue.”
“The last few weeks, we’ve come to realize that this program probably needs to hear another voice, that the university as a whole has to have another voice giving guidance about this program that they hear. And, the fans need to hear another voice.”
Calipari made it clear he was thrilled along with his time on the helm … however he is prepared for the subsequent problem.
“There have been opportunities that have been presented to us, so we’re discussing them as a family. I love coaching. I love coaching young people. I loved this year’s team. I loved every day walking in. They’ve invigorated me. I love the chase for championships. I love bringing the kids together. It’s what I do. It’s who I am.”
Cal thanked all these he interacted with over his profession with the Wildcats … particularly the gamers and their households for what they completed on and off the courtroom, his workers and the followers of Large Blue Nation.

Regardless of all the general success, the Wildcats bumped into tough instances within the postseason lately … incomes only one tourney win since 2019.
“Again, it’s been a dream, what we’ve been able to do,” Calipari stated. “But 15 years, time for another voice. And, you know I’m always going to be a fan. Thank you.”
