Rep. Hakeem Jeffries was feeling musical on the House flooring after being chosen House Minority Leader for the Democratic Party … and he let his tune be heard all, from A to Z.
The New York congressman — who was the clear favorite amongst his peers for House Speaker as 15 rounds of ballot were held — provided his speech early Saturday early morning after Rep. Kevin McCarthy lastly won the gavel amongst a divided Republican celebration.
We’ll get to him in a minute, however initially … listen to Jeffries’ ABCs of red, white and blue. He went through the whole alphabet to compare and contrast the core tenets of his caucus.
It begins with American Values over Autocracy, Benevolence over Bigotry, the Constitution over the Cult … and lastly ends with Zealous Representation over Zero Sum Confrontation, covering every letter in in between. It’s got excellent rhythm to it, just like the genuine alphabet tune!
Jeffries got big applause throughout, and what seems like a standing O at the end.
You might argue there was simply as much interest within the GOP, when now-House Speaker McCarthy provided his remarks to top off the long night … when he guaranteed to press a strong conservative program and to rule in a great deal of Pres. Biden‘s policies.
McCarthy’s win followed an unbearable 15 rounds of ballot over 4 complete days … throughout which he gradually began to turn adequate Republican votes in his favor amongst holdouts.

He supposedly handed out the farm in protecting the speakership, yielding to a lots of concessions that deteriorate his position. But hey, he’s got the title now … and on we roll.
