Mo Vaughn says do not blame the pitch clock for the current rash of arm accidents across the MLB — he says the actual wrongdoer is none apart from … computer systems!!
The previous American League MVP made it clear to TMZ Sports activities this week he thinks it is analytics — not changes to timing pitchers — that is creating elbow woes.
He defined he thinks the obsession with velocity and spin charges has brought on pitchers to cease, , pitching … and focus solely on unloading the gasoline tank on each throw as an alternative.
“When you’re out there giving max effort every pitch,” he stated, “you are going to get hurt. That’s my philosophy behind it.”
Vaughn says years in the past — earlier than Sabermetrics and Statcast had a stranglehold on MLB execs — guys would simply cruise at decrease velos … earlier than ratcheting it up in huge moments once they wanted the explosive pitches.
