A parachute likely conserved a base jumper’s life, however not the method you believe … the chute got stuck on a rock minutes after the guy knocked into a cliff wall, avoiding him from careening to the ground at high speeds from 100 feet above.
All of it took place over Thanksgiving weekend at the Kane Creek Canyon in Moab, Utah … about 4 hours southeast of Salt Lake City.
Hikers at the area tape-recorded a base jumper jumping off a 400-foot cliff called the Tombstone … when out of no place, a gust of wind took the parachute, requiring him right into a rock wall at a high rate of speed, relatively knocking him unconscious.
Household captures #BASEjumper in #Moab striking cliff, then hanging high in the air after his chute captures on rocks. Grand County SAR needed to go up to save him, however they inform me he made it through! #utah #ut (📸Baron Edwards) pic.twitter.com/3pDmbA6eeo

What took place next most likely conserved the jumper’s life … the chute got captured on the cliff and stopped him from being up to the ground with, at best, a partly released chute.
The jumper was saved after holding on to the chute and the cliff for over an hour, according to FOX 6 … and was airlifted away.
Obviously, base leaping is the sport of leaping off of repaired things like structures, bridges and in this case, cliffs. Yes, it’s really harmful … leaping from fairly low heights, and near things, the opportunity for major injury or death is really genuine.
Stay safe, everybody!
