Robert Downey Jr.‘s time within the MCU has come and gone — ‘trigger the top honcho of the studio simply confirmed his character is dead-dead and ain’t coming again … interval.
The actor was profiled in a brand new Vanity Fair piece, and so they interviewed Marvel chief Kevin Feige to speak RDJ’s time as Iron Man … together with what led as much as it, and the way it ended — specifically, together with his character being killed off in ‘Endgame.’
It was an enormous second for the Marvel franchise … and there is been loads of hypothesis Feige and co. would try and revive Downey’s character in future installments, by way of alternate universes, and so on. Welp, that ain’t occurring — ‘trigger KF says Tony Stark’s eternally gone.
Of RDJ’s departure, Feige explains … “We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again. We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”
‘Endgame’ director Joe Russo confirmed Downey would not don the swimsuit once more … including, “We’d already said tearful goodbyes on the last day of shooting. Everybody had moved on emotionally. We promised him it would be the last time we made him do it — ever.”
The way in which the filmmakers describe it, it is virtually like Downey is over Marvel — which is sensible … dude’s been within the franchise since 2008, when he kicked issues off in “Iron Man.”
Talking of that … Feige says the studio heads on the time had been reluctant to forged RDJ at first due to his tumultuous previous — however as soon as they noticed his display screen exams and audition tapes, they knew they’d their man. Because it turned out, they wager on the fitting man for the job.
Downey being counted out of future MCU installments might be a bummer for hardcore followers — you may argue Marvel’s fallen off a cliff since Downey left. Get used to it, y’all. 🤷🏽♂️
