A Massachusetts man was arrested for the homicide of a faculty basketball participant who was shot whereas driving.

Pena Canela, 18, pleaded not responsible Thursday. Authorities allege he fatally shot Carl-Hens Beliard Wednesday evening, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported.

Prosecutors mentioned the sufferer was within the automobile with a lady who was the meant goal and was allegedly in an on-and-off-again relationship with Canela.

Canela reportedly instructed authorities he was in search of the lady and fired the pictures, PEOPLE reported.

“It’s news to me that he allegedly stated he committed the murder,” Canela’s protection lawyer Debra Dewitt mentioned at Thursday’s arraignment, CBS reported. “I’m saying at this point in time, my client is innocent. I think there’s a lot of information that we need to know.”

Beliard dying has devastated his household, pals, and the Worcester neighborhood the place he performed as a freshman on Salem State’s basketball workforce.

“He loved basketball so much,” his mom Altagrace Beliard instructed WBZ-TV. “He loved his brother. He was a happy kid. He was really happy. He was really happy with the school. He was doing well.”
