Jimmy Kimmel Talks Oscars Slap with Grim, Grisly Jokes Ahead of Show

Jimmy Kimmel‘s internet hosting the Oscars once more tonight, and a 12 months out from the notorious slap … the dude has been speaking rather a lot about it, kinda turning the second right into a punchline.

The late evening humorous man has been doing a ton of press within the weeks main as much as the massive gig — his third such time dealing with MC duties for Hollywood’s largest present — and sure … he is been requested repeatedly about Will Smith smacking Chris Rock, and the way he’ll deal with it.

Here’s just a few quotes of JK’s from the previous couple weeks or so. When requested by THR what he would do if somebody tries to tug a copycat and slap him, Kimmel mentioned … “If I’m bigger than they are, I beat the s*** out of them on television. And if it’s The Rock, I run.”

A number of days in the past, as preparations have been underway, Kimmel made one other joke about carnage …  with reference to the colour of this 12 months’s walkup. He mentioned, “People have been asking, ‘Is there going to be any trouble this year? Is there going to be any violence this year?'”

He provides, “We certainly hope not. But if there is, I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet over a red carpet shows how confident we are that no blood will be shed.”

In different phrases, he is been swearing off the brutality by teasing the chance of extra, albeit in jest. On the problem of really speaking about it in his monologue, Jimmy says he’ll do it.

He’s mentioned in interviews that he’ll “squeeze just a couple more drops out of it” and provides a take that he thinks nobody has heard but. Kimmel did observe he would not plan on speaking about it at size however says it is the elephant within the room and that it should be addressed.

As for the entire crisis team factor — specifically, AMPAS hiring a bunch of folks to “deal” with any craziness that may go on — JK says he is not aware of it … and is aware of nothing of the logistics of what they’ve deliberate or how they might implement him if issues go south.

It’s fascinating that Jimmy’s been making gentle of the slap as a lot as he has, and can presumably achieve this once more come 5 PM. Ya gotta determine ABC and the Academy have signed off on all of it … they’re the producers and showrunners of this factor, and so they name the pictures.
