Ice Cube’s kid O’Shea Jackson Jr. — who played his dad in “Straight Outta Compton” — responded to Vulture’s post “Year of the Nepo Baby” and declares he’s worked for whatever he has.
“My papa informed me in an ideal world, I would play him in [Straight Outta Compton],” he tweeted. “I was currently in college for screenwriting at USC. I accepted the obstacle. And auditioned for 2 years prior to getting the function. After that it depended on me, he couldn’t hold my hand through my profession. I needed to get my ass up and make it work. … Once the door was opened it depended on me to stroll through it and flourish.”
He did acknowledge that a few of his accomplishments would not have actually taken place without his popular dad.
“NONE. OF. THAT. Happens that method without the love of my dad,” O’Shea composed. “The work he put in to get us to a location of chance. And for me to disregard that or not accept and utilize as a guide would be absurd and ill-mannered. I am grateful and I utilize his mentors daily.”
While O’Shea may have had doors open by his dad, there’s no misinterpreting his skill.
