Legendary college football coach Mike Leach — who’s invested that last 3 seasons running Mississippi State’s sidelines — has actually been hospitalized … and he’s now supposedly defending his life.
MSU authorities stated in a declaration Sunday afternoon that Leach suffered a “personal health issue at his home” that needed him to be hurried to a medical facility in Jackson, Miss.
The school offered no more information on his status … though Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger reported Sunday night that the 61-year-old remains in “critical” condition.
Bulldogs press reporter Robbie Faulk included that Leach “needs a miracle.”
The college football world was rocked by the news … with much of the leading names in the sport tweeting prayers for the male credited with developing the “Air Raid” offense.
USC coach Lincoln Riley tweeted, “Prayers for my good friend Mike Leach. Please keep Coach and his family in your prayers.” Univ. of Houston head coach Dana Holgorsen included, “While I am devastated by today’s news, I know Mike is a fighter with an incredible spirit and I know he will continue to battle. Prayers to Sharon and their extended family.”
MSU stated preparation for its championship game on Jan. 2 versus Illinois will still go on … with protective organizer Zach Arnett taking control of head training responsibilities from Leach.
