Billy Eichner‘s brand-new romcom totally bombed at package workplace — and he seems chalking it as much as homophobia throughout the nation.
The comedian-turned-actor required to Twitter Sunday to acknowledge the low ticket sales — the film just generated $4.8 million locally, positioning 4th this weekend — and he’s absolutely bummed by the underwhelming turnout … regardless of the reality the movie is objectively strong.
Last night I snuck in and beinged in the back of an offered out theater playing BROS in LA. The audience groaned with laughter start to end up, rupture into applause at the end, and some were cleaning away tears as they left. It was genuinely wonderful. Really. I am VERY pleased with this film.

He composes, “Last night I snuck in and sat in the back of a sold out theater playing BROS in LA. The audience howled with laughter start to finish, burst into applause at the end, and some were wiping away tears as they walked out. It was truly magical. Really. I am VERY proud of this movie.”
BE likewise went on to declare that — regardless of ‘Bros’ being hailed as one of the funniest funnies in current memory — a theater chain called Universal to state they were pulling the trailer due to the fact that of the gay material. He states Universal had the ability to persuade them to keep it.
That’s simply the world we reside in, regrettably. Even with glowing reviews, great Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore etc, straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, simply didn’t appear for Bros. And that’s frustrating however it is what it is.

Billy includes, “That’s just the world we live in, unfortunately. Even with glowing reviews, great Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore etc, straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up for Bros. And that’s disappointing but it is what it is.”
His last idea strikes his point best on the head … “Everyone who ISN’T a homophobic weirdo should go see BROS tonight! You will have a blast! And it *is* special and uniquely powerful to see this particular story on a big screen, esp for queer folks who don’t get this opportunity often. I love this movie so much. GO BROS!!!”
Billy’s right about something … the film was favorably examined by critics and normies alike — so by all accounts, it’s quite darn excellent. As for why it did so inadequately, it’s difficult to state. It was marketed relatively greatly by the studio … with the trailer getting a great deal of play in theaters and signboards all around the L.A. location.
It’s quite clear though … Billy sees it as remaining bigotry. 🤷🏽♂️
